David A. Durfee

David A. Durfee was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in 1978. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Master’s in Business Administration from Brigham Young University. He received his law degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University, graduating cum laude. While in law school, Mr. Durfee served as Editor of the Arizona State Law Journal.

He is back in private practice after serving as regional in-house legal counsel for K. Hovnanian Homes for seven years, handling real estate and related transactional functions for company divisions located in California, Arizona, and Texas. Prior to that, he was a partner at Gallagher & Kennedy in Phoenix for 26 years.

Mr. Durfee has represented a diverse spectrum of clients, interacted with government agencies on all levels, and excels at creative legal problem-solving. His clients have included land developers, landlords, property managers, land bankers, real estate brokers, homebuilders, investors, lenders, borrowers, contractors, homeowner associations, and others associated with the commercial and industrial real estate industries.

Mr. Durfee has participated in writing and speaking activities, beginning with contributing to and editing law journal articles in law school. He has organized and taught seminars for both business people and other lawyers. He also authored portions of a real estate transactions manual sponsored by the State Bar.
